about

Taken from Guthrie's "Grand Coulee Dam," which took the Wabash Cannonball theme and discussed a great accomplishment of his time. Going back to the same Wabash Cannonball theme, this discusses a great accomplishment of our time.

lyrics

Well the world has seven wonders, the travelers always tell
Some gardens and some towers, I guess you know them well
But now the greatest wonder ain't in Uncle Sam's fair land
It's that magic, powerful internet, the wheel of modern man

It's a place where all the people can share all the things they feel
In whatever they have an interest in, whatever makes them feel real
If we wrote out all our hopes and dreams and things we should have said
A capsule of our alone time, well you'd have the world wide web

Where quickly you can learn about anything you want to know
And find people from around the world who will take off all their clothes
And just in case you ever feel lost, there's always Google Earth
And forums where you opinion feels like it has some worth

You can find out if you're hot or not, you can read the nytimes
You can Google yourself or chat with me, you can blog about your lives
You can do your grocery shopping, you can pay all of your bills
Why, that internet can do anything for you, but not for your social skills

And it's that loss of human touch I worry about these days
Why ever have a conversation if you can send a message on myspace?
But I don't feel I've found myself down any URL path
And what good is an LOL when I'd rather hear you laugh

They say it brings us all together, but I'm not sure that that's true
If the only time that we go on it is when we're alone in our rooms
So next time that you leave a friend a message on their wall
Remember just how good it feels to give that friend a call
